A new exhibition at Hastings Museum called 'Rooms for Ideas' started on November 12th 2011and carries through to 19th February 2012. It features Paula Thittichai as one of the 8 jewellers forming 'The Line Up'. Each jeweller was allocated a room at random within the museum from which to draw inspiration and Paula found the Sussex Pottery room an exciting but daunting challenge.

With some knowledge of ceramics she decided that porcelain would be the perfect clay to experiment with. The fragility and translucence was inspiring in two ways, unglazed its beauty laid bare and Raku glazed, the metallic lustres flamboyant for jewellery.

Hundreds of porcelain slivers were crafted and then a few chosen for the Raku firing. Paula has put the slivers of porcelain on a knitted leather necklace unfortuantely the effect is minimal in the photo so for the true Raku experience of this piece go to the exhibition which is on for three months at Hastings Museum, East Sussex .

		A rather special exhibition is planned for this coming November 2011 at Hastings Museum. 		Inside the new Atelier Ava shop at 62 George Street, Hastings. The space is small but just the right size for the jewellery which can now be displayed to perfection.
